Mike is the founder and CEO of BlueScope Group. Mike’s passion in education is focused on helping school districts implement innovative and sustainable changes to produce strong improvements in student outcomes. Most recently, Mike was the Manager of District Strategy and Innovation at the Texas Education Agency (TEA). In this role, he led the design and continuous improvement of the System of Great Schools Network, the Transformation Zone program, and supported school district leadership through innovative change management.
Prior to his position with TEA, Mike was the Manager of Special Projects and Strategic Planning for Lawrence Public Schools in Massachusetts. In Lawrence, he led and supported strategic initiatives with a focus on improving school based autonomies in a district pursuing a significant reform agenda, comprising 30+ autonomous schools and nearly 15,000 students. Prior to his work in Lawrence, Mike was the Coordinator of Field Engagements at Mass Insight Education in Boston, a firm focused on district redesign and school turnaround. In this role, he was responsible for supporting the management of all engagements across 6+ states and over 60 schools. Mike began his career as a high school social studies teacher and varsity wrestling coach.
Mike graduated with a B.A. in sociology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching in from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.
